Karachi court orders convict to offer five prayers daily for three years

Summary Instead of sending criminal to jail, court decided it was a good idea to put him on the prayer mat

KARACHI (Dunya News) – A criminal court announced a weird verdict on Wednesday and punished the criminal to observe “Namaz” five times a day for three years for posession of illegal arms.

The criminal Yousaf Khan was apprehended in year 2014 and a case was filed against him by CID. Additional District and Session Judge Haleem Ahmed announced ther verdict of three years observance of prayer instead of punishing the criminal in accordance with the law.

The outlaw Yousaf Khan seemed happy and relieved at the punishment. However, The judge conditioned that if Yousaf Khan fails to comply with the verdict, he will be punished for seven years along with Rs 50,000 fine.

Commenting on the verdict, renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Zubair stressed that court’s decision should be respected regardless if it was in accordance with the law.
