Summary All promises remain unfulfilled as drug vendors are openly doing business on Karachi streets, roads

KARACHI (Dunya News) – It was reported by Dunya News that drug sales have skyrocketed in the capital city of Sindh province. Drugs are being sold openly on streets and roads alike.

Apart from the major concerns of security in Karachi, the slow death caused by intake of drugs is no less a danger for residents. Anyone can easily sight smoked pieces of cigarettes and used dose-filled syringes on streets.

Putting a check on drug business was a major aim in Karachi operation, however, rising drug addiction in the city and unchecked sale of drugs present a different story.

One of the most effected areas includes Old Vegetable Market. No action has been taken as of yet against the drug mafia. Drug addicts standing in queue during the morning hours is a shameful sight to watch for any society.

Other areas include Malir slums, narrow streets of Quaidabad and uncarpeted roads of Ibrahim Hyderi. Drugs are not checked anywhere near the Afghan area of Sohrab Goth and Gadap which is why drug vendors have acquired permanent places here.

The law enforcers remain silent at the rise of drug business in Karachi. It appears as if the drug mafia is backed by powerful forces which is why no one dares to arrest them.
