MULTAN (Dunya News) – Medical Superintendant of Children Complex in Multan caught a blood bag thief red handed on Saturday but later freed him on the intervention of the staff.
Thousands of hemophilia and thalasemia patients are under treatment in the hospital for which atleast 600 triple blood bags are bought monthly.
Due to the increasing theft incidents in the hospital, the MS Dr Shaid Bukhari became vigilant and caught the lab technician red handed while he was running away with 20 blood bags.
During the last seven days, 90 blood bags worth thousands of rupees have been stolen from the store. Hospital’s MS has stated that a three-member committee has been formed on the incident whereas strict action against the involved staff will be taken once the theft report is submitted.
Irregularities have been found in the register regarding the blood bags entry however; the inquiry committee has yet kept silence over the issue due to the pressure of blood bank incharge Dr Zaheeruddin and other staff members.
