Karachi assault victim's conflicting statements diverts probe

KARACHI (Web Desk) - The divergent statements by a 17-year girl, who was found in unconscious state on Saturday from the metropolis area of Defence, befuddled the investigators probing her case, officials said.

Giving her statement, the victim college student noted she left the college and boarded the rickshaw by herself. Contradicting her statement, the other students of the college said the girl was not alone; instead, she was accompanied by a woman clad in burqa.

The girl earlier told that she was drugged by the rickshaw driver; however now, she said two boys boarded in rickshaw, who forced her to drink spiked with some sort of intoxicants near Nagan Chowrangi.

Police told media the sketches of the culprits are being prepared.

The girl is a student of a women’s college located in the North Nazimabad area of the city. According to media reports, she was allegedly abducted by a rickshaw driver on Friday afternoon while she was on her way back home from college.
