SURABAYA, Indonesia (AP) A British woman is being tried for allegedly trafficking drugs worth $5,000 into Indonesia s second-largest city.

Andrea Ruth Waldeck was arrested in April and could face the death penalty if convicted. Prosecutor Deddy Agus Oktavianto said the trial started Monday at Surabaya district court.

He said Wednesday that authorities found 1,472 grams (52 ounces) of methamphetamine crystals in Waldeck s underwear at her hotel room in Surabaya.

The Supreme Court last month upheld a death sentence for a British woman for smuggling $2.5 million worth of cocaine into the resort island of Bali.
Indonesia has strict drug laws. A third of the more than 140 people on death row for drug crimes are foreigners.
