Summary PTA and FIA conducted raids in Lahore, Karachi and seized illegal gateway exchanges and SIMs.

ISLAMABAD (Online) - Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) jointly conducted two successful raids at Lahore and Karachi and seized illegal gateway exchanges.

According to a statement issued here on Wednesday by the authority it said that grey Setup operational at Lahore area of Badami Bagh was successfully raided and four Voice over internet Protocol (VoIP) Gateways along with supporting hardware and thousands of Mobile SIMs were confiscated.

During the raid three persons also apprehended. Same day another setup was busted at Karachi area of Clifton. The raid resulted in confiscation of 5 Quantum gateways and 6 Sim boxes. During this raid one person was apprehended by FIA.

This action was a result of continuous efforts of highly technical professionals and dedicated workers of PTA who check and monitor the illegal call termination activities and adopt different procedures and processes to track the illegal telecom gateways.
