After drawing 1-1 with New Zealand in December which followed a 1-1 draw in South Africa, Waugh was pleased to see Australia back on song against India.Ponting hit a century in the second test and then a double century in the fourth test which ended the 37-year-olds two-year drought in which he did not score one ton.Critics have called for Ponting to retire but the former captain showed he can still give match-winning performances.Youve got to come with criticism if youre not scoring runs, thats part of the job, Waugh added. I think it was 34 innings without a 100. Youve got to accept as a player youre going toHowever, Waugh also believes Australias new chairman of selectors John Inverarity has some tough decisions to make and Pontings time could well be up.The test series against India did ease the pressure on Ponting though; unlike for Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar who failed once again to hit his one-hundredth international century. But Waugh said if Tendulkar never reaches the milestone he would not feel anything less of the batsman.In the last year test cricket has seen England whitewash India and then MS Dhonis team got revenge by doing the same to England. Now following Australias heavy defeat of India Waugh thinks test cricket is in a really good place where most teams can beat each other.
