KARACHI (Dunya News) - In a major development ahead of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League, the newly inducted Rawalpindi franchise has officially announced its team name, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the tournament’s history.

The franchise, previously known as Multan Sultans, was acquired during the league’s recent auction process.

Business group Wali Tech secured ownership rights for Rs2.45 billion.

Following the acquisition, the new owners decided to relocate the team’s identity from Multan to Rawalpindi, renaming the franchise after the garrison city.

On Sunday, the Rawalpindi franchise officially revealed its new team name as “Pindiz.” The announcement was made through a 25-second promotional video shared across social media platforms.

The video showcased some of Rawalpindi’s iconic landmarks, capturing the city’s vibrant culture and energy.

Accompanied by upbeat and spirited background music, the clip aimed to reflect the passion and competitive spirit the franchise intends to bring into the upcoming season.

In the caption accompanying the video, the franchise declared that the official name of the Rawalpindi team is now “Pindiz.”

The statement expressed confidence and ambition, emphasizing that the team is fearless, ready to challenge opponents, bringing renewed enthusiasm, and determined to change the game.

The management also announced that the team’s official logo will be unveiled soon.

It is worth mentioning that former owner Ali Tareen had declined to renew the 10-year ownership agreement of the Multan-based franchise.

Following that decision, the Pakistan Cricket Board initiated the auction process, paving the way for new ownership and rebranding.

The 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League is scheduled to take place from March 26 to May 3, with fans eagerly awaiting the action-packed tournament.

The introduction of “Pindiz” has already sparked excitement among supporters, adding further anticipation to what promises to be a thrilling season of cricket.
