HARARE (Dunya News) – India secured a dominant victory over England in the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 final on Friday, claiming a record-extending sixth title.

Batting first after winning the toss at the Harare Sports Club, the Indian side piled up a formidable 411 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs – the highest team total recorded in a U19 World Cup final.

The innings was highlighted by an extraordinary performance from 14 year-old opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who smashed a breathtaking 175 off just 80 balls, setting a new record for the highest individual score in an Under-19 World Cup final. His knock featured 15 fours and 15 sixes and saw him reach his century in only 55 deliveries, marking the second fastest hundred in tournament history.

Captain Ayush Mhatre contributed a measured 53 runs, while lower order strikes from Abhigyan Kundu (40) and a swift 37 not out by Kanishk Chouhan helped push India past the 400 mark.

Chasing a daunting target of 412, England showed resistance through a spirited 115 from Caleb Falconer, who struck nine fours and seven sixes, and useful contributions from Ben Dawkins (66) and Ben Mayes. Despite these efforts, the Young Lions were bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs, falling 100 runs short as India sealed the championship.

Sooryavanshi’s remarkable innings also earned him both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament honours, reflecting his influence throughout the campaign.

India’s triumph adds to their illustrious U19 World Cup legacy, with previous titles won in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018 and 2022.
