The record for the fastest T20I fifty by a Pakistan captain remains with Mohammad Hafeez, who reached the milestone off 23 balls against India in Ahmedabad in 2012. Salman now slots in just behind the former all-rounder, surpassing several established names in Pakistan’s leadership history.
Former captain Babar Azam appears twice on the list, having scored half-centuries in 27 balls on two occasions. His first came against Zimbabwe in Rawalpindi in 2020, followed by another against South Africa in Centurion in 2021. Another former captain, Shoaib Malik, also reached the fifty mark in 27 balls, achieving the feat against Sri Lanka in Johannesburg in 2007.
