Summary India ex-captain Muhammad Azharuddin termed Kambli accusations regarding match-fixing baseless.
Vinod Kambli has accused that the semi final between India and Sri Lanka in the world cup 1996 was fixed. Azharuddin said that the decision of fielding was taken by all the team by winning the toss, adding that it seems that Kambli was sleeping at that moment and this idea has come to his mind after 15 years.Azhar said that allegations levelled by Kambli are shameful, for he has cheated all the Indian team. If he had been sincere with the cricket, he would not have said such childish thing.Apart from this, the then captain of Indian cricket team also rejected these allegations and according to him, unconceivable wicket was the main reason of Indian team’s defeat in semi final.
