Summary Pakistan dismissed Sri Lanka for 197 on the opening day of the first Test.
Left-arm paceman Junaid Khan took a maiden five-wicket haul at Abu Dhabi stadium on Tuesday.Sent into bat, Sri Lanka lost six wickets in the second session before Angelo Mathews chipped in with a fighting 52 not out. Khan finished with 5-38.By tea, Junaid had grabbed 3-21 with Lanka at 115-7.The 21-year-old Junaid Khan, playing only his second test, was well supported by off-spinner Saeed Ajmal (2-33) and fellow seamers Aizaz Cheema (1-27) and Umar Gul (1-22) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.Cheema made a crucial breakthrough with the scalp of Kumar Sangakkara in the second over after lunch as Sri Lanka resumed at 50-1.Sangakkara (2) sparred outside off stump and edged behind, where wicket-keeper Adnan Akmal dived in front of first slip to take a left-handed catch.Paranavitana and Jayawardene added 28 for the third wicket before Gul ended the three-hour resistance of Paranavitana at 79-3.The left-hander hit three fours in 37 off 128 balls before he was hurried by a Gul bouncer and gloved a hook to Akmal down the leg side.Captain Tillakaratne Dilshan started positively and shared a further 33 with Jayawardene before Ajmal and Junaid ripped apart the innings.Dilshan (19) fell to Ajmal, but was unhappy with umpire Tony Hills decision that he edged a delivery to Akmal.Junaid then took over, claiming the two Jayawardenes, Mahela and wicket-keeper Prasanna, as well as Rangana Herath.Mahela nudged a short ball to first slip where Mohammad Hafeez juggled twice before clinging on while Prasannas middle and off stumps were splayed by a yorker.Herath fell leg before first ball to leave Junaid on a hat-trick. Suranga Lakmal survived that and was unbeaten on nought at the break. Angelo Mathews, who watched the decline from the other end, was on three not out.
