Summary Former skipper Shahid Khan Afridi has welcomed spot-fixing confession by Muhammad Amir.

Talking to the media, Afridi however said Pakistan’s fast-bowler Mohammad Amir should have confessed early. “Had he done that earlier, things would have been lesser painful for him. It is better late than never. Now that he has confessed, mist would clear around the scam,” he said. Amir pleaded guilty in the spot-fixing case in a London court.The International Cricket Council (ICC) had previously banned Amir from all forms of cricket for a period of five years.During Pakistan’s tour of England in 2010, British tabloid “News of the World” accused the then-captain Salman Butt, fast-bowler Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir of spot fixing.The ex-skipper also hinted at betterment in the Pakistan Cricket Board with change in the management. He said he was willing to play T20 matches in future.
