Summary He was more demoralized because he had his son Abdullah besides him
(Web Desk) – Pakistan’s cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmad revealed how shattered and dejected he felt after a fan hurled profanities at him in front of his family in England after the team lost a match to arch rival India in World Cup 2019.
Recalling the harassment incident, Sarfaraz disclosed what he and his family went through that day. It wasn’t the first time that he faced a backlash from fans but on this occasion he was more demoralized because he had his son Abdullah besides him when it all happened.
The incident happened before Pakistan’s match against South Africa and Sarfaraz hoped that the fan will not upload the video as his family apologized after he verbally attacked him.
‘When the video went viral I was instantly demoralized. I was more concerned about my son and wife. It was so hurtful that after watching the video my wife started crying. I had to console and reassure her for its just one video that she has witnessed, we’ve faced much worst,’ he added.
Sarfaraz explained that he knows how emotional fans are, he believes that support of the fans is vital as wherever they are right now it’s because of the love and encouragement of the fans.
‘It’s natural for the fans to feel anger and resentment when we lose because they expect a lot from us.’
He appreciated the undying love and support from fans, especially on overseas tours as their support motivates them to do their best.
