(Web Desk) – A pair of shoes was hurled at edge of the boundary during a match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkota Knight Riders at MA Chidambaram Stadium in vicinity of of Chennai Super Kings players.

The incident happened in the eighth over of Kolkota Knight Riders’ innings.



The incident prompted police to interfere and spectators were arrested.

The incident followed calls, in the lead up to the game, for people to protest over the hosting of IPL games in Chennai. Several local political parties and fringe groups called for a boycott of the IPL matches in Chennai till the lengthy Cauvery water dispute between Tamil Nadu and neighbouring state Karnataka is resolved.
