DUBAI (Dunya News) – In the 19th match of the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) being held in Dubai, Quetta Gladiators beat Karachi Kings by whopping 67 runs courtesy Shane Watson’s 90-run knock.
To chase 180 run target set by Karachi, thanks to 86-run partnership by Watson and Pietersen laden with boundaries, Karachi sent Afridi and Joe Denly. But the pair failed to impress as they returned to pavilion after making one run each. The rest of the batsmen also proved to be as fragile before the Quetta bowlers as the opening pair as the chasers were able to score 113 runs only at the loss of eight wickets. Karachi had elected to field after winning the toss.
Batting first, Asad Shafiq and Shane Watson provided Quetta with a firm start by a 60-run partnership. After Asad, English master blaster Kevin Pietersen joined Aussie hitter and launched a flurry of boundaries to put together 86 runs, taking the total to 146 runs before Pietersen departed after scoring 52 runs.
Shane Watson was declared the Man of the Match for his match-winning contribution.
So far, Quetta Gladiators has won 4 out of 7 matches it has played, ending up second on the points table next to Multan Sultans at the top.
Karachi Kings have lost 2 matches out of 6 it has played while one match was lost to rain.
