Summary Ex-national players including Ishant Sharma and Gautam Gambhir could only watch the disturbing image
(Web Desk) – Weird scenes occurred when a man drove his car on the pitch during India’s Ranji Trophy match which was being played at the Air Force Ground in Palam area. The match between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh remained paused during the whole episode as the tournament met its one of the oddest security breach.
The mysterious man not only drove his car inside the cricket ground but also parked it right on the 22-yard pitch which is considered a relatively protected area for the game. Former national players of India including Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma and Rishabh Pant – who are playing the match – could only watch as spectators as the incident shocked them equally.
Right after the incident occurred, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sought an inquiry report from the authorities to take necessary action against the culprits. The man behind the act was identified as Girish Sharma by Indian media.
He drove his silver Wagon R suddenly inside the ground and even crossed into the playing field. The security detained him after the act. He was wearing a lungi and sources have raised doubts about his mental health.
It was told that the Air Force Ground maintains proper security by checking every individual and vehicle prior to entry. Despite the claims, the car wasn’t stopped when entering the lot or ground. The main gate of the ground remained open during the period and closed only after a guard saw him crossing and decided to trap him inside.
Initial investigation found that Girish is 30 years of age and works at a private company. The match was initially scheduled at Feroz Shah Kotla but shifted here because of the contest between India and New Zealand. Delhi police told that none of the parties involved lodged complaint following the odd event.
