DHAKA (Web Desk) – A former Bangladesh captain and senior official of the cricket board suffered from a stroke on Saturday and will be transferred for medical treatment in Singapore.

A family member of Khaled Mahmud confirmed that he suffered from the state of coma on Sunday after the stroke. At first, he had been admitted in the United Hospital in Dhaka where doctors were treating him in the intensive care unit.

Mahmud was later on transferred to Singapore with special support from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Due to sensitive condition, an air ambulance was arranged on Monday for the board director and team manager.

Amongst others, board president Nazmul Hassan and other BCB officials paid him a visit. Mahmud had captained the team in 2003. He played nine games as the third Bangladeshi Test captain. He played until 2006 and served the board afterwards.

He is often remembered for the thrilling Multan Test against Pakistan in which BD was all set to defeat the hosts if it weren’t for star batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq’s terrific knock with the tail.
