LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan cricket team have so far failed to perform in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 despite receiving incentives worth millions, and pressure is now being created on the management to drop senior players from the team.
Pakistan team reached England about a month ago for the world cup, and were the first team to land there. A training camp of one and half months was also arranged for them in Abbottabbad and Karachi. However, the team have so far lost all the three matches that they have played in the world cup.
The first women’s team to get a central contract in Asia were also Pakistan. The players of Category A are receiving Rs1 lac and ten thousand, cricketers of Category B are getting Rs80000 and Category C players are being paid Rs50000 per month.
Furthermore, the men’s team, who won ICC Champions Trophy 2017, received 100 pounds as daily allowance during their visit in England, and women’s team are also getting the same amount.
The local coach of women cricketers Irfan Khan has said that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spends the most on its players out of all boards, but the performance is still zero.
He added it is not that there is no talent in Pakistan, but the selection criteria is not right. There are four girls in the team who are above 30, and many young girls are better than them but they are not being picked up by the selection committee, he remarked.
