West Indies beat Pakistan by seven wickets in 3rd T20

Summary Lewis scored a brilliant fifty while snatching the match away from Pakistan hands

PORT OF SPAIN (Dunya News) – A brilliant knock by Lewis completely took away the match from Pakistan hands as the host side registered their first win in the series. 

Batting first, Pakistan scored 137 overs in the alloted overs. In reply, West Indies chased the target in the 15th over by the loss of three wickets. 

Earlier, Skipper Sarfaraz Ahmad won the toss and elected to field first in the third Twenty20 match between Pakistan and West Indies being played at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

For West Indies, Jason Mohammed made his debut while Pakistan decided to play unchanged in third Twenty20.

Wahab bowled a brilliant thirteenth over as only 3 runs came of it. The next over turned out to be a nightmare for Sohail Tanvir as Lewis pummeled him for three sixes as twenty four runs came of it. Lewis snatched the match away from the visiting side through his brilliant knock full of fireworks.

The memorable knock by Lewis came to an unlikely win as he was caught by Wahab Riaz of the bowling Shadab Khan.

Simmons hit the winning boundary of the penultimate ball of the fifteenth over to register West Indies first win in the series. It was West Indies today who completely outclassed Pakistani side in the 3rd T20.

Over 12  I  Score 99/2  I  JN Mohammed 15*, E Lewis 60*

Shadab Khan came into ball in the seventh over as he went away for a boundary and conceded six runs in the over. Meawhile, Wahab came to bowl the eighth over as he bowled with pace and conceding just three runs and removing the dangerous Sameuls in the eighth over.

Shadab conceded seven runs in his second over as he went for another boundary this time.

The introduction of Shoaib Malik also didn’t work out for the skipper as he went away for 11 runs while conceding two boundaries. Hasan Ali also went away for 9 runs as Lewis thumped him away for a boundary towards short fine leg.

Meawhile, Lewis reached to his well-deserved fifty as he hit a massive six of the bowling of Shadab in the twelfth over. Lewis also hit another six of the penultimate ball of Shadab’s over as West Indies scored 99 for the loss of two wickets in 19 overs.


Over 6  I  Score 49/1  I  MN Samuels 12*, E Lewis 33*

Imad Wasim started the proceedings with a brilliant first over as only two runs came of it. In the second over, it was Sohail Tanvir who provided the early breakthrough while removing Walton who was caught by Fakhar Zaman at deep square leg.

Imad bowled another brilliant over as only two runs came in his second over. Sohail Tanvir went for 11 runs in the fourth over as West Indian openers started to take the innings with the fast pace.

In the next over, Lewis took the charge as he thumped Imad for two sixes of the last two balls. A total of 17 runs came in Imad’s over.

Hasan Ali was introduced to the attack in the sixth over as he also went for twelve runs as he Lewis thumped him for a six and Samuels scored a boundary of his last bowl.

The partnership between Babar Azamand Kamran Akmal continued as both the batsmen played good cricketing shorts all around the wicket. In the eleventh over of the innings, William conceded four leg byes as the ball races past the wicket-keeper for four more. A total of 10 runs came of the eleventh over.

Braithwaite conceded six runs in the twelfth over. Meanwhile, the long-standing partnership was put to an end by Samuels who removed Kamran Akmal who was caught by Simmons at deep-midwicket. A wicket and one run came of his over.

The skipper also removed Shoaib Malik as only three runs came of his next over. Fakhar Zaman who impressed with his performance in PSL, came up with a brilliant slog as he fetched six runs in the process of doing so.

Babar Azam also took the charge in the next over as he launched the ball towards deep mid-wicket for a six. However, Narine cleaned him of the very next ball after scoring 43 runs.

Williams also bowled a brilliant seventeenth over as only six runs came of it.

The skipper got run out in the eighteenth over as Sarfaraz didn’t make it to the crease in an effort to take a single. Holder bowled brilliantly to control the score as only five runs came of his over.

Pollard took a brilliant catch as Wahab in an effort to clear the boundary got out of the bowling of Williams. Williams bowled a brilliant over yet again as only 5 runs came of the penultimate over.

Another run out of the first ball of the last over made things more horrible as Pakistan seemed to have lost the plot in the last overs. Credit goes to West Indies bowlers who came back strongly in the last overs. Pakistan scored 137 for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted overs.


Over 10  I  Score 76/2  I  Kamran Akmal 43*, Babar Azam 28*

A dramatic start at Queen’s Park was what the fans were most desperately looking forward to and Narine’s first over provided them with the essentials in this regard.

Narine started of the proceedings with a loose delivery that was swept away for a boundary by Ahmad Shehzad. However, two consecutive wickets of the next two balls put Pakistan in pressure.

First it was Ahmad Shehzad who was cleaned up by Narine on the second delivery while on the third delivery, Imad Wasim was stumped by Walton as he was completely unable to read the ball and was beaten by the swing.

Hence, a total of five runs and two wickets came of the first over.

Meanwhile, Kamran in an effort to remove the pressure thumped Holder for a boundary in the second over as seven runs were scored of the second over.

On the second ball of the third over, Kamran swept really well as he managed to fetch four runs in the process. The score reached 19 at the end of three over.

William was introduced in the fourth over as he Babar Azam played a risky pull-short for four more on the penultimate ball.

A comparatively good over from skipper Brathwaite was spoiled by Babar who fetched four runs while playing a brilliant shot towards midwicket boundary. The score was 32 after 5 overs.

Kamran took the charge in the sixth over as he pummeled Holder for a towering six over deep mid-wicket.

A short ball on the last delivery by Narine gave an opportunity to Kamran who thumped the ball for a four more towards mid-wicket.

Meanwhile, fifty partnerships came between the cousins who build up the innings after the early the collapse. Babar Azam fetched four runs as he hit a boundary of the last ball of Narine’s over.

Badree came to bowl his last over and delievered brilliantly as just three runs came off the ninth over.

A certain boundary was saved by Jason Muhammad as Kamran played a brilliant short towards cover. A six immediately followed by a boundary helped Kamran to fetch 14 runs of the tenth over. At half-way stage, Pakistan were 76 for the loss of two wickets.
