Peshawar Zalmi innings
Overs 16.5 I Score 60/7 I Wahab Riaz 5*, Chris Jordan 3*
As the quota of both spinners was finished, Brendon McCullum opted to go with part time bowler Fakhar Zaman in the 16th over. He failed to create any magic as Wahab Riaz and Jordan easily got two runs in his over to reduce the target. They needed only 5 runs in 4 overs when New Zealand s Grant Elliott came to bowl and delivered a wide ball. Two more singles were taken by Wahab Riaz and Jordan to go near the target and they needed two runs when Wahab Riaz hit a winning shot for two runs to finish off the match.
Overs 15 I Score 53/7 I Wahab Riaz 1*, Chris Jordan 1*
Afridi could not wait anymore as he started going after Sunil Narine and hit a four and a six before he caught while going for another big shot. Sohaib Maqsood was the next batsman, who could not score any run before being dismissed by Yasir Shah. Darren Sammy was the next batsman to join Morgan on the crease but the English batsman was given out in a controversial decision. Zalmi were 48/6. Three runs later Darren Sammy was also bowled by Yasir Shah as things got more interesting. Yasir Shah finished his quota of four overs with exceptional figures of 7-4.
Overs 10 I Score 36/3 I Eoin Morgan 22*, Shahid Afridi 3*
Morgan started attacking in the sixth over as he hit Muhammad Irfan junior for two fours. Kamran Akmal scored only 3 runs off 13 balls before he was also sent back to pavillion as Yasir Shah got his wicket. That brought Shahid Afridi on the crease, who also batted with responsibility, against his natural style. Morgan kept attacking and hit few more valuable shots to ease the pressure. Peshawar were 36/3 after 10 overs as they were nearing their target.
Overs 5 I Score 9/2 I Eoin Morgan 5*, Kamran Akmal 0*
In pirsuit of a very small target of 60 runs, Peshawar got off to a shaky start as opener Dawid Malan was dismissed by Sohail Tanvir after scoring just one run. Muhammad Hafeez made sure that he did not get dismissed for 0 in third match in a row but he could add just 3 runs before Sunil Narine got his wicket. Eoin Morgan and Kamran Akmal played slow and steady as Peshawar had run rate of 1.8 after 5 overs and were 9/2.
Lahore Qalandars innings
Overs 10.2 I Score 59 all out I Yasir Shah 0*, Muhammad Irfan 0
The fall of wickets that started at the beginning also pursued after the fifth over as well and Lahore Qalndars batsmen were throwing away their wickets at regular intervals. The bowlers of Peshawar Zalmi carried on their fascinating bowling however kudos to irresponsible batting from Lahore Qalandars that earned them scoring the lowest total no one had ever imagined of. This is by far the second shortest innings in T20 history.
The strange thing was that only two players managed to enter into double figures as Fakhar Zaman scored a rather solid knock of 33 under pressure with a minor contribution of 11 from Muhammad Rizwan. The rest is history!
