CAPE TOWN (Dunya News) - South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by 40 runs in the fourth ODI at Cape Town on Tuesday to go 4-0 up in the series, reported Dunya News.
South Africa were vying to break the world record of winning most ODI matches at home. Their captain Ab De Villiers won the toss and elected to bat first. They did not get off to a good start as Hashim Amla was dismissed for 1.
That was followed by a 102 runs partnership between De Kock and Du Plessis. De Kock was dismissed for 55 but Du Plessis went on to score a big century and registered his highest ODI score of 185.
De Villiers scored 64 whereas Farhaan Behardien got a cameo of 36 to set up a total of 367-5 in 50 overs. Lahiru Kumara and Sacith Pathirana got two wickets each.
Sri Lanka got off to a good start as opener Upul Tharanga scored 119 and they were 307-4 at one stage but they lost last 6 wickets for 20 as they were dismissed for 327. Wayne Parnell got 4 wickets for Proteas.
