India defeat Pakistan in Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup final

Summary Indian successfully defended the title which they won in 2012 in Guangzhou.

BANGKOK (Dunya News) - Indian bowlers stifled Pakistan to clinch victory in the final of the Asia Cup World T20 in Bangkok today (Sunday).

Indian Women have defeated Pakistan by 17 runs in the final match.

Pakistan made 104 for six wickets as captain Bismah Maroof top-scored for the team with a knock of 25 off 26 balls. Openers Ayesha Zafar (15) and Javeria Khan (22) gave Pakistan a good start but the tail did not produce the required runs to help the side get over the finishing line.

Ekta Bisht claimed two wickets while Anuja Patil, Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey, and Preeti Bose grabbed one wicket each.

Earlier, Pakistan had restricted arch-rivals India to 122 for five in 20 overs.

Opener Mithali Raj remained unbeaten on 73 off 65 balls, whereas, Jhulan Goswami was the second highest scorer at 17 for India.

Today’s victory stretched India’s unbeaten record in the Asia Cup to 32 matches and it is their sixth Asia Cup title.
