LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday has confirmed that Azhar Ali would continue to lead the one-day international team against West Indies series.

A three-match ODI series against West Indies in UAE would start from September 30 while the other two matches will be played on October 2 and October 5 respectively.

Azhar Ali’s captaincy came under inquiry after 1-4 series rout against England. Rumors regarding removal of Azhar Ali as ODI captain were also appeared.

The 31-year-old player elected as captain after World Cup 2015. He has led the team in eight series with defeating Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and Ireland so far.

On the other hand, a ceremony unveiling logo of West Indies series was also held in which PCB Chief Operational Officer Subhan Ahmed said the department has not imposed sanction on the selection of any player.

He said if selectors think Salman Butt is suitable for the team, they will include him in the squad.

The officer said that farewells of star player Shahid Afridi and stunning bowler Saeed Ajmal would be decided after September 26.
