LAHORE (Dunya News) – Keeping in view worst defeat of Pakistan by England in one-day international series, former cricket legends have advised to replace Azhar Ali with Sarfraz Ahmed as ODI captain, reported on Wednesday.
A meeting headed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Shaharyar Khan was held in Lahore in which, former star players Rameez Raja and Wasim Akram suggested to appoint Sarfraz Ahmed, who is already serving as Twenty20 captain, in the place of Azhar Ali.
Earlier talking to media in London, ODI captain Azhar Ali said that the players would not lose confidence due to continuous defeat by England. He said that Pakistan team suffered a lot in ODI series due to fielding issue.
"The team will try to overcome the mistakes in future matches", he added.
On Tuesday, Alex Hales’s stunning century provided the platform for England to post the highest ever one-day international total of 444 for three as they beat Pakistan by 169 runs at Trent Bridge.

Victory in this day/night clash gave England an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match series after Pakistan were dismissed for 275 with 44 balls to spare.
England s total surpassed the previous record of 443 for nine by Sri Lanka against the Netherlands at Amstelveen in 2006.
It was also the highest ODI total in a match between two Test nations, topping South Africa s 439 for two against the West Indies at Johannesburg last year.
