FAISALABAD (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) beat Punjab Friday in Pakistan Cup’s fourth match of the series in a nail biter finish. Even Salman Butt’s 77 runs could not propel Shoaib Malik’s Punjab team to victory at Faisalabad’s Iqbal stadium. KP’s Captain Younas Khan contributed only 2 runs while opener Fakhar Zaman managed to score 64 runs in an exceptional innings.

KP had set a target of 262 runs which Punjab failed to achieve. KP started its innings with a good start scoring 88 runs. Ahmed Shehzad managed to score 57 runs while Rameez Aziz contributed 35 runs to KP’s total score.

All rounder Zohaib Khan remained unbeaten at 51 runs. Meanwhile Punjab’s Amir Yamin and Zulfiqar Babar managed to grab 2 wickets each.

On the other hand Punjab’s opening batsmen started the chase and contributed 42 runs. Asad Shafique and Muhammad Rizwan scored 47 runs each.

With only 9 runs remaining for the win in the final over, the match inched towards a nail-biting finish. However, Punjab failed to overpower KP side and lost the match by just 2 runs.
