WT20: Pakistan overpowers Bangladesh by 55 runs

KOLKATA (Web Desk / AFP) - Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 55 runs in their opening game of the ICC World T20 2016 after a comprehensive all round performance with the bat and the ball on Wednesday, reported Dunya News.

Opener Ahmed Shehzad was recalled to the starting line-up after missing the recent Asia Cup for alleged disciplinary reasons.

Bangladesh made just one change from their defeat to India in the Asia Cup final, with Abu Hider making way for Arafat Sunny.

Pakistani batsmen played the first innigs quite positively and were able to put a mammoth total of 201 runs at the board with the loss of 5 wickets. Shehzad and Hafeez scores 52 and 64 respectively. Skipper Afridi scored a quick-fire 49. Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny grabbed two wiclets each.

Men in Green bowled with equal passion in the second innigs as Amir got them to a splendid start after picking up the wicket of Soumya in the very first over. Bangladeshi batsmen showed some resisitance but were unable to chase down the massive total as Pakistani bowlers striked regularly and ensured that no partnership is sustained. Shakib scored 50 runs as Pakistan easily won the match by 55 runs. Bangladesh finished their 20 overs at 146/6. Amir and Afridi took two wickets each for Pakistan. Shahid Afridi was awarded the Man of the Match award for his brilliant all-round performance.
