KOLKATA (Dunya News) – Pakistani players have all set to play against Sri Lanka in warm-up match in World Twenty20 on Monday.

According to sources, green shirts have arrived at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata for practice amid tight security.

The team have been seen doing batting, bowling and fielding ahead of warm-up match while they have also shown full hope in winning the game and vowed to perform well in the tournament.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s T20 captain Shahid Afridi in an interview stated that the team will try to perform well in the World T20.

Afridi further added that the team’s progress will depend on the players’ performance, further adding that the rest of the teams in Group-2 are quite balanced and that the batsmen will have to play in the tournament with consistency.

He also said that it will be a big achievement if any significant breakthrough is achieved in the tournament with the current team.

Afridi will be playing his sixth World T20 and with 93 wickets to his name, he is the highest wicket taker in this format as well.

Earlier, Pakistani cricket team landed at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Saturday evening.

Extraordinary security arrangements were made at the airport prior to the Men in Green’s landing, which also involved the deployment of commandos and other personnel of the Indian military. Complete monitoring of the players was also carried out.

The team reached Taj Hotel from the airport where members of police and intelligence agencies were on-duty. It has been made mandatory to seek permission from the authorities in order to meet any member of the Pakistani side.

A list of members of extremist organizations has also been provided to security agencies that will be keeping track of their activities.

Tight security measures will be taken around the Eden Gardens cricket stadium where Pakistan is due to face India on March 19.
