Summary PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan has expressed some doubts even though India has assured security of team.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shahryar Khan on Friday announced that Former Indian cricket Captain Saurav Ganguly and Chief Minister (CM) West Bengal Mamta Benerjee will be welcoming the green shirts to India, as Pakistan’s national cricket team gets ready to depart to India for participation in the 2016 World T20 tournament.
The decision to participate was announced by Khan while addressing a press conference earlier.
Even though the PCB Chairman has stated that he is hopeful that complete security will be provided, however he still has some doubts that something might go wrong.
Shahryar said that earlier he contacted Najam Sethi, Chief Executive PCB governing body regarding the participation.
PCB Chairman also said that that consent of the players of the Pakistani team was also taken into account for participation in the event.
He said that the team will miss one warm-up match however, Pakistan will play its first warm-up game against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
Shahryar stated that Indian journalists also endorsed Pakistan s stance regarding effective security measures for the team.
He also hoped that the bilateral series between India and Pakistan will also resume in the near future, paving way for cricket between the two countries to be played as it was before.
Meanwhile team’s Head Coach Waqar Younis said that players will try to perform their best. The Head coach advocated Captain Shahid Afridi instead of denying any sort of differences with him.
Waqar also revealed that there are problems with batting, bowling and fielding but he hoped to win with the support of the public.
He also said that team should show national spirit as they will have to play against archrival India.
Pakistan’s national cricket team late Friday night arrived at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International airport and appears ready to depart for India.
