LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shahryar Khan on Thursday stated that Indian government has not guaranteed foolproof security to the team for World Twenty20 tournament but, a positive response is expected.

PCB Chief Shahryar Khan presided over a meeting with players at National Cricket Academy in Lahore.



The chairman directed the players to remain in-form for the WT20.

During meeting, the issue and strategies regarding end of Waqar Younis’ tenure as Head Coach was also discussed.

Talking to media, Khan clarified that India has not satisfied security team with tight security but there is possibility that the neighbor will beef up the safety measurements.



Once we get assurances from India then we will ask our government for clearance," PCB chairman Shahryar Khan told newsmen.

On the other hand, the extremists of Anti-Terrorist Front of India (ATFI) once again threatened to dig up the pitch at Eden Gardens if India hosts Pakistan tie.

The organisation had ealier also threatened to dig up the pitch at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala which was scheduled to host the March 19 India-Pakistan match.

Resolving the issue, International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive David Richardson announced that the hotly awaited clash on March 19 would be shifted to Kolkata.

But it was unclear whether Pakistan would travel to India to take part in the tournament even after the venue switch, with its cricket board as PCB chief is still awaiting security assurances from the Indian government.

Pakistan are due to play their opening match against a first-round qualifier in Kolkata on March 16.

They had been set to meet India on March 19 in Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh state, where locals have objected to the staging of the match and threatened to hold protests against their Muslim-majority neighbours.
