Summary Venue shifted as a result of mutual consent says ICC Chief Executive

NEW DELHI (Web Desk) - International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive David Richardson during a press conference on Wednesday has announced that the venue of the T20 match to be played between India and Pakistan during the ICC World T20 2016 has been shifted from Dharamsala s Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium to Kolkata s Eden Gardens Stadium, reported Dunya News.

The venue has been shifted because of security concerns in the region. Richardson stated that the decision was made after mutual consent was established between the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) and the ICC.

"Security of the event is a matter of utmost significance for the ICC", said Richardson.

Earlier, the Pakistani government sent a three-member security team to India in order to check the arrangements made by the BCCI and the Indian government regarding the match that to be played in Dharamsala. The team presented a report regarding their findings and advised that the venue of the particular match should be shifted elsewhere. The match is scheduled to be played on March 19.

Pakistani government is yet to make a decision as to send its men and women s cricket teams to India or not.
