Summary Neglected throughout his cricketing career, Azhar Mehmood has been eyed for bowling coach position

LAHORE: (Dunya News, Web Desk) – Former Pakistan fast bowler from Rawalpindi Azhar Mehmood remained neglected throughout his cricketing career but has now finally been picked for bowling coach position for the national side during Twenty-20 International (T20I) world cup, reported Dunya News.

Azhar Mehmood debuted in Test cricket in 1997 but could only play 21 Tests for the national side. Similarly, he could only play 147 One-Day International (ODI) matches.

Despite being neglected at home, Azhar Mehmood played Indian Premier League (IPL) as a British citizen and also made his way into the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) as a Supplementary player who finally got his chance in the league as an Islamabad United player when the Australian all-rounder Shane Watson got unfit.

Azhar Mehmood made 14 runs in 2 PSL matches and bagged one wicket. In view of this ‘impressive’ performance, the officials at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have decided to make him bowling coach of the national side for T20I world cup.
