Summary Clarke has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury.
SYDNEY (AP) - Australia captain Michael Clarke has been ruled out the limited-overs cricket series against Pakistan next month due to a hamstring injury.
Clarke flew home early from the recent ODI tri-series in Zimbabwe and Cricket Australian physiotherapist Alex Kountouris says scans confirmed "a significant hamstring injury."
In a statement Tuesday, Kountouris says "the scans have demonstrated tendon damage which complicates the recovery from this injury," although he remains hopeful that the 33-year-old Clarke will be available for the two test matches against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.
Clarke has been at the forefront of Australia s resurgence in the last 12 months and is likely to play an important role in the team s preparations for the World Cup, which starts February in Australia and New Zealand
