LONDON (AFP) - England pace bowler Stuart Broad and wicketkeeper Matt Prior are set to start their rehabilitation programmes after both players underwent operations to cure long-standing injuries.
The England and Wales Cricket Board issued an update on Broad and Prior s progress following their surgery on Thursday.
Following surgery on the patella tendon in his knee, Broad, 28, is hoping to be ready in time to join England s World Cup preparations in a tri-series against hosts Australia and India in January.
Prior, 32, has missed much of this season s international schedule, having decided after England s Test defeat against India at Lord s in July that he was no longer able to compete at the highest level until his left Achilles problem was addressed.
Thursday evening s press release read: "The ECB medical team today confirmed that England and Nottinghamshire bowler Stuart Broad has undergone an operation on his right patella tendon.
"Broad will begin a rehabilitation and recovery programme ahead of the tri-series against Australia and India early next year.
"England and Sussex wicketkeeper Matt Prior has undergone surgery on his left Achilles and will begin a rehabilitation and recovery programme with England and Sussex over the winter period."
