Summary Islanders lost 2 early wickets but stabilized later, Sangakara (54), Jayawardene (49) still not out
COLOMBO: (Dunya News) – Sri Lanka is finished the Day 3 of Colombo Test at 177 for the loss of 2 wickets. Sri Lanka lead by 165 runs at the end of Day 3.
Though the islanders lost 2 early wickets but stabilized later and by the end of Day 3 they had strengthened their position. Opener Tharanga scored 45 runs before departing to pavilion on Abdul Rehman’s delivery and Silva followed after adding only 17 runs to the total. However, the experienced duo of Kumara Sangakara and Mahela Jayawardene played sensibly to take the total to 177.
Sangakara (54) and Jayawardene (49) were still at the crease when the play on Day 3 ended. Earlier, national team had got out for 332 runs.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmad played brilliantly to score the first century of his career. He got out after making 103 runs. Ahmad Shahzad (58) and Asad Shafiq (42) remained prominent as the second and third highest scorers of the innings.
Rangana Herath got his career best 9 wickets in an innings. This is the best performance ever by a Sri Lankan bowler.
