KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that the province's current expenditure has increased by only 7.4 percent, which is lower than that of the other provinces.

Addressing the Sindh Assembly, Shah said that current expenditure had risen by 9.7 percent in Punjab, 17.3 percent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 17 percent in Balochistan.

He stated that a significant portion of the province's budget—Rs1.263 trillion—is allocated to salaries.

However, the provincial government has adopted austerity measures, reducing expenditures by more than Rs62 billion.

He added that spending at the Chief Minister's House, the Governor's House, and several government departments had also been cut.

The chief minister announced that a Rs720 billion Annual Development Programme (ADP) has been prepared for the upcoming fiscal year, including Rs206 billion earmarked for Karachi.

An additional Rs45 billion has been allocated for foreign-funded development projects.

Shah said the federal government has pledged Rs64 billion in funding, while the provincial government has allocated resources for all major development initiatives.

He added that more than 1,800 development projects are expected to be completed during the next fiscal year.

The chief minister also noted that four public-private partnership (PPP) projects undertaken by the Sindh government have been recognized by the United Nations.

He said the government is working under the same model to transform Keti Bandar into a modern port and economic hub.
