Summary Islamabad authorities have extended business operating hours under a revised notification, allowing shops, malls and restaurants to remain open later while maintaining energy conservation measures.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The district administration of Islamabad has extended business operating hours across the federal capital, according to a new notification issued on Wednesday.

Under the revised schedule, shops, markets, shopping malls and grocery stores will now be permitted to operate until 9:00pm. Wedding halls, marquees and event venues have been allowed to continue business activities until 10:00pm.

The notification further states that restaurants, cafés and food outlets may remain open until 11:00pm, while takeaway and home delivery services are exempt from the restrictions.

Healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, medical laboratories and pharmacies, have been excluded from the new operating hours. Bakeries, traditional ovens, dairy shops, petrol pumps and CNG stations will also continue to operate without being subject to the restrictions.

In addition, gyms, sports facilities, padel courts, IT companies and call centres have been granted exemptions from the revised timings.

The district administration said the updated business hours came into effect on 10 June and will remain in force until further notice. The measures form part of the government's broader energy conservation strategy while providing greater flexibility for commercial activity in the capital.
