Summary The government has absorbed the pressure of rising global fuel prices to shield consumers and is continuing efforts to maintain stability in electricity pricing, according to a spokesperson.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government has provided significant financial relief to electricity consumers, amounting to Rs26.85 billion during January and February, according to a spokesperson for the Power Division.

In an official statement, the spokesperson said the government remains committed to offering maximum relief to the public. Overall, electricity consumers have received relief worth Rs46.56 billion through various adjustments and policy measures.

The spokesperson highlighted that electricity tariffs have been reduced by 71 paisa per unit overall. Over the past two years, industrial tariffs have seen a substantial cut of Rs14.44 per unit, bringing rates down from Rs49.19 to Rs34.75 per unit.

It was further stated that consumers benefited from Rs48 billion relief under quarterly adjustments, while a Rs21.18 billion increase under monthly fuel adjustments was recorded. Despite this, the net impact remained in favour of consumers.

From July to February, total relief of Rs33.29 billion was provided, including Rs13.28 billion through monthly fuel adjustments and Rs33.29 billion via quarterly adjustments.
