Summary Sports goods export has increased by 5.39 percent during the first quarter of current FY.

According to the data released by Federal Bureau of Statistics, the overall sports goods’ exports during July-September (2011-12) stood at $79.469 million against the exports of $75.407 million during July -September (2010-11).Among the sports products, the exports of footballs surged by 16.38 percent by increasing from $31.931 million in July-September (2010-11) to $37.161 million during the same period of current fiscal year.The exports of gloves increased from $28.977 million last year to $.32.358 million this year, showing an increase of 11.67 percent.However, the exports of other sports good witnessed negative growth of 31.37 percent by falling from $14.499 million in 2010-11 to $.0.862 million in 2011-12.On the other hand, the exports of sports goods increased by 0.88 percent during September 2011 as compared to the exports of the same month of last year. The exports of sports goods were recorded at $23.024 million in September 2011 against the exports of $22.824 million in September 2010.As compared to the exports of $27.765 million in August 2011, the exports in September 2011 decreased by 17.08, the FBS figures revealed. Among the sports products, the exports of football during September 2011 increased by 17.44 percent as against September 2011 and the exports of gloves increased by 8.59 percent while the exports of other sports goods decreased by 44.20 percent.On the other hand, as compared to August 2011, the exports of footballs decreased by 16.54 percent in September 2011, gloves by 14.71 percent while the exports of other sports products witnessed negative growth of 26.12 percent, the FBS reported.It is pertinent to mention here that Exports during July-September, 2010 totalled $ 6,003 million as against $ 5,058 million during the corresponding period of last year, showing an increase of 18.68%.
