Summary FBR chief assured the Supreme Court of Pakistan for effective perusal of all pending cases.

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Salman Siddique assured the Supreme Court of Pakistan for effective perusal of all pending cases by deputing adequate number of counsels. A three-member bench of the SC comprising Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain heard the case regarding number of pending cases in the courts.The chairman assured the court that he would took it as his personal responsibility to depute counsels to defend FBR in all cases. Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan remarked that they had been hearing that Courts did not hear cases and cases were stuck up but the FBR did not care for taking its responsibility.Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja observed that they heard the government about stucking up various amounts, therefore, they gave priority to such cases but here the FBR was not showing any interest. He ordered the FBR chairman to also make alternate arrangements in case of non-availability of counsels.Justice Jan told him that they were imposing costs upon FBR but as he had taken personal responsibility therefore, they were deferring the issue.The bench adjourned hearing on a number of identical tax issues till November 27.
