Petroleum ministry suggests development surcharge on CNG, LPG

Summary Ministry of Petroleum has suggested imposition of development surcharge on CNG and LPG.

According to the sources, the imposition of 5% Gas Development Surcharge on CNG and LPG has been suggested to remove the circular debt of the Ministry of Petroleum which has reached up to Rs 400 billion. Meanwhile, the ministry has also suggested changing the power tariff analyzing system of Nepra.On the other hand, the Petroleum Ministry has also suggested the government to review its agreement with Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) and per unit subsidy.These suggestions have been forwarded to the Prime Minster Secretariat and the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).
