Summary The PCGA stopped cotton purchase in protest of imposition of withholding tax.
The Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association protested against the imposition of 3.5 percent withholding tax. They said that the new tax would hit the farmers and as well as the industry.The farmers also staged protest against the government and the PCGA. The cotton price has reached Rs 2,400 per maund from Rs 3,000.
