Summary Cotton prices went up in Pakistan as prices goes up in the international market.
After the export of cotton from Pakistan and a surge in its prices in international market, the cotton prices swell in the country as well.The prices of the commodity gained Rs 500 a maund and ended at Rs 6,400 a maund in Punjab and Rs 6,100 in Sindh.The market has recorded Rs 1,500 a maund increase in cotton prices during the last 10 days.Ehsanul Haq, an executive member of the Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association, said that due to the dearth of phutti in the market and excessive buying of cotton thread from the exporters were the causes of surge in cotton prices.
