Hafeez okays Rs 900m for Thar Coal Project

At a meeting called to discuss energy crisis, Hafeez Sheikh said generating gas from coal was necessary, that’s why the amount has been approved so that key machinery and equipment could be purchased.Planning Commission member Dr Samar Mubarik Mand earlier said the amount was required to open the letter of credit as the project of generating gas from coal would attract foreign investment. He said many international companies have shown interest in the gas-from-coal project. He said the project would be inaugurated in the first week of September 2011.
