Textile sector set to rake in profits
Updated on

Summary Textile sector is likely to register profit owing to multiple factors.

These factors include improvement in gas supply, reduction in cotton prices and likelihood of Pakistan getting access to the European market. Sweden has promised to help Pakistan get GSP Plus status, with likely seconding from the UK. Pakistan would have got this status in January had some Asian countries led by India not raised objections. However, efforts to achieve the status continue. The exports are expected to increase by 90 billion euros, with major contribution from the textile sector.Reducing gas load shedding to two days a week would also cut down manufacturing cost.Reduction in cotton prices in the local and international markets would also contribute positively.
