Summary Non banking corporate sector possess 32 percent of T-bill and bonds sold by the government.
According to statistics, issued by the State Bank of Pakistan, the government has sold investment bonds, T-bills and Sukuk Ijarah worth Rs 26.66 trillion till May 2011. Scheduled banks have purchased papers scheduled worth Rs 18.29 trillion while non banking corporate sector purchased papers worth Rs 8.67 trillion.Figure shows that sold security papers included of Pakistan Investment Bond, T-bills and Sukuk Ijarah worth Rs 5.93 trillion, Rs 18.48 trillion and Rs 2.24 trillion respectively. The scheduled banks have purchased 41 percent PIB, 90 percent Sukuk Ijarah and 75 percent T-bills.
