Summary FBS says that there has been 13 percent increase in inflation this year as compared to last year.
According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS), prices of food items have increased by 14 percent. Whereas market sources say that there has been 25 to 30 percet increase in the prices of food items.At the same day last year, price of milk was Rs 48 per litre, which is now Rs 66 per litre, rice was then Rs 80 and now Rs 110 per kg, 5kg tin of ghee was then for Rs 800 and now Rs 975, meat was then Rs 300 and now Rs 500 per kg and the price of chicken has increased by Rs 80.Hike in petroleum prices, electricity and gas is blamed for increase in food prices. However, in the shop owners’ view, the root cause of the food prices’ hike is lack of an effective price control system.Experts say that prices can be controlled by balancing the demand and supply of food items which is purely an administrative issue.
