Summary A United Nations research has revealed that a billion tonnes of food is wasted worldwide every year.
According to the United Nations, 100 kilogrammes of food is wasted by every person per annum in Europe and North America.The rich countries of the world waste 224 million tonnes which is equal to the total production of food in sub-Saharan region of Africa.The United Nations said that the developing countries were required to bring improvement in food production and its distribution system.The industrial countries have been advised to avoid food dumping. A large quantity of fresh food is discarded by shop owners. The annual food waste is one-third of the total food production worldwide.
