Summary Wheat procurement is underway in Sindh; however, wheat procurement has been delayed in Punjab.
Overall target of wheat production is 25 million tonnes including Punjab’s 19.2 million tonnes, Sindh’s 3.6 million tonnes, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s 1.2 million tonnes and Balochistan’s 0.9 million tonnes. According to the Agriculture Department, the target would be achieved easily because the flood affected areas are expected to give bumper wheat output. Agri Forum Pakistan’s chairman Ibrahim Mughal said that wheat was produced on less area and its production would also be 1 to 1.2 million tonnes lower than the target.
