Summary Selling 75% local LPG production at imported rates is injustice to poor people.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chairman/Founder of LPG Industries Association of Pakistan (LPG Chamber of Pakistan) & Chairman LPG Distributors Association Pakistan, Mr. Irfan Khokhar told that LPG consumer price increased by Rs. 7 per kg, Rs. 86 in domestic cylinder, Rs. 329 in commercial cylinder & Rs. 7249 per ton effective from today.

OGRA has issued notification. LPG will be available at Rs. 133per kg, domestic cylinder at Rs. 1565 & commercial at Rs. 6021 throughout Pakistan.

LPG Distributors Association condemned this increase. Selling 75% local LPG production at imported rates is injustice to poor people while Govt. is not taking any actions against it. LPG local production has increased to 75000MT/month by 54% than it was 34000MT/month in 2014, 4 years ago.

By shut down of JJVL, approx. 7 to 8 thousands ton gone short in market and national exchequer have born millions in losses which should be avoided at any cost. If LPG price is kept according to LPG policy 2016 and by distributing whole local LPG production among all LPG marketing companies on merit basis conditioning to mixing of 50% imported LPG, consumer price could be maintained at 30% lesser rates and consumers could be provided with domestic cylinder at Rs. 1000/-. Government promise of domestic cylinder at Rs. 895/- in LPG policy 2016 failed due to local lpg producers who increased Rs. 76/kg, Rs. 232.50 in domestic cylinder, Rs. 895 in commercial cylinder and Rs. 19703.58 in per metric ton price only in last 6 months.

Irfan Khokhar appreciated OGRA for ending unjustifiable Signature & Premium Bonuses and demand Ministry for Petroleum & Natural Resources to call LPG Price Committee meeting on urgent basis in order to provide poor people of Pakistan with economic fuel. LPG Distributors also demand for a separate margin slot in OGRA price notifications. LPG Distributors Association Pakistan to go on strike if local LPG Producers do not get stopped from price hiking.
